Charl is a qualified chartered accountant with strong acquisition finance and investment banking expertise. Charl heads up Acorn´s Johannesburg offices and will assist on all corporate finance matters.
BRIEF HISTORY: During his 16 years in investment banking and specialised finance, Charl has concluded, and been involved in the primary and secondary financing of numerous land mark transactions, totaling several ZAR billion.
He was Head of Acquisition & Leveraged Finance at Nedbank Capital from 2005 to 2009 and was responsible for the tactical, strategic and operational leadership of this high performance unit that provided bespoke funding solutions in respect of domestic, regional and international transactions for management buy-outs, trade-, private equity- and BEE investors. Charl has been involved in acquisition and leveraged finance transactions in 16 sectors (including Mining & Natural Resources, Energy, Financial Services, Media, Manufacturing, Health Care, Pharmaceutical, Retail, Telecoms and Travel & Leisure) involving jurisdictions in Africa, Western Europe and the United States of America.
Charl joined the Acorn team in March 2010 as a director of Acorn Private Equity.
